Student - Program Guidelines

To meet JPL's legal requirements, SIRI participants must agree to the following attributes and conditions of the program:
  1. SIRI is considered a training program by JPL
  2. The clinical training is part of an educational curriculum. The training will be similar to that given in a vocational school, even though it includes operation at JPL's facilities.
  3. The training is for the benefit of the student trainee.
  4. Trainees are not guaranteed a job at the conclusion of the training period.
  5. JPL and trainees must agree that the trainees are not entitled to wages for the time spent in training.
  6. Trainees will not receive employee benefits from JPL for participating in SIRI.
  7. The training will be general, so as to qualify the students for work in any similar business, rather than designed specifically for a job with the employer offering the program. Upon completion of the program, the students will not be fully trained to work specifically for JPL, but would require further specific training for such employment.
  8. The screening process for the program will not be the same as for employment, nor appear to be for that purpose.
  9. After viewing the Announcements of Opportunity, students should discuss these with their Faculty Sponsor, and may submit a one-page resume, along with a list of Announcements that interest them, in priority order.
